Imman who had made a paradigm shift in his musical journey through Kumki by practising the Ilaiyaraja style of compositions became more successful commercially in the last 5 years. Though I was happy for his success, I prefer the Imman from his early years where he produced certain unique arrangements and odd presentations in songs, which are still cramming my playlist of favorites. However, with the explosive track ‘Sendhoora’ last year, he came back to his own form delivering the sucker punch to mainstream female solo tracks. ‘Kurumba’ follows suit in the audacious voice of Mirudhula Siva, a reprise of the original track sung by Sid Sriram that frankly sounds a little flat and mushy for my liking. Mirudhula Siva sounds more committed to this strange tune capturing all tiny variations in the notes to perfection. Clean-cut singing! The tune of whistle adds peppy overtones to this beautiful little creation from Imman.
